WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

On 28th of February 2016 at 2.30pm Christian Mother association and women association of Pangla Parish celebrated women’s day with great pomp and show.
Morning at 7.00am the spiritual director Rev Fr Dr Leslie D Souza along with guest deacon Prem Cutinho offered a meaningful Holy Eucharist and prayed specially for all the women.
At 2.30 p.m. a gathering was organized by the Christian Mothers association and women’s association. Fr Vincent Coelho, Deacon Prem cutinho, Mr Mark Vaz, Mrs Simmy D’ Souza, Sr Catherine Joseph, the resource person Miss Catherine Rodrigues, president and secretary of both above said associations were present on the dais.
Mrs Helen Noronha extended a warm welcome to all the guests on the dais, the invited guests and members of the associations. All the dignitaries on the stage lighted the lamp to inaugurate the programme. Mr Mark Vaz, the vice-president of the parish Council congratulated all the women and wished them all the success.
The senior most person of St Sebastian ward Mrs Anna Maria, 94 years old was honored. Mrs Treeza Machado gave an introduction about Mrs Anna Maria’s life and she spoke a few words of gratitude for recognizing her and honoring her. After which Deacon Prem cutinho spoke in favour of women and exhaled their sacrifices and contribution in building the families. He also requested all to give due respect to all the women. Fr Vincent Coelho also encouraged and appreciated all the women for their selfless service and dedication. He assured them that they still have scope and can bloom in the society by their small works and contributions towards the good works to the family, church and society in large.
After this Mrs Neetha D Souza gave an introduction about the resource person Miss Catherine Rodrigues. Mrs Anitha Mathias proposed the vote of thanks.
Miss Catherine Rodrigues gave an inspiring talk on the topic ‘Kindness is our Mercy’. She also expressed her appreciation for the systematic organization and clean campus. After the in-put session, women of both the associations put up Goan dance and a skit ‘communion’. Few games were conducted and refreshment was served. Hundred and sixty women participated and it was a great achievement.
