The ceremony of Maundy Thursday was celebrated at St John the Evangelist Church, Pangala, Shankarapura, on the 2nd of April, 2015. It started at 6:30 pm with the Eucharistic celebration. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr Vincent Coelho, Pricnipal St John’s P U College and concelebrated by Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr Lawrence Mendonca. After the proclamation of the word of God, Fr Leslie d’souza having described the importance of meal in a family celebration, briefed about the significance of Eucharist in the life of Christians and the sanctity of Priesthood. He also gave a call to be service- minded like Christ.
After the sermon, following the exemplary service shown by Jesus through the washing of the feet of the twelve Apostles during the Last Supper, Fr Leslie washed the feet of the twelve Gurkars. The prayers of the faithful were prayed for the cause of various intentions. After the Mass, adoration was conducted by Br. Jencil Alva. The whole liturgy was compered by Br. Canute Noronha. The Parish choir elated our devotion during the entire Liturgy.
