Identity Card for Senior Citizens – A Program Organised by St. John’s Evangelist Church, Shankerpura
The Udupi Senior Citizens Association(R), Health Commission and Catholic Sabha, St. John’s Evangelist Church Shankerpura jointly organised a information Camp on Government facilities, entitlements and registration for senior citizens Identity card on Sunday, 30th July 2017 at Shankerpura Church Community Hall.
The President of the organising Committee, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Parish Priest of St. John’s Evangelist Church, Shankerpura, in his speech mentioned that most of the people are not aware of the Government facilities available for Senior Citizens. By organizing such camps people will get necessary information about the benefits. Such programs are worth organizing for the benefit of the people of the society and community.
The Chief Guest on this occasion was Shri. A.P Kodancha, Hon. President of Udupi Senior Citizens Association (R). He gave the detailed information regarding the benefits available for Senior Citizens from the Government.
Also for the inaugural function at the dais were present Rev. Fr. Vincent Coelho, Principal of St. John’s P. U. College, Shankerpura, Asst. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Royson Fernandes, Vice-President of Parish Council Shri. Mark Vaz, Secretary Smt. Clara Mendonca, Secretary of Health Commission, Smt. Alice Rodrigues, Catholic Sabha President, Smt. Flavia Menezes, and Secretary Smt. Veena D’Souza.
On this occasion, felicitation program was held to honour Smt. (Dr). Leena D’Mello, the Past Secretary of the Health Commission, for obtaining Ph.D from prestigious Manipal University.
At the beginning, Dr. Edward Lobo, Director of Health Commission, St. John’s Church, Shankerpura, in his inaugural address and introductory speech welcomed all guests and members. Mrs. Flavia Menezes, President of Catholic Sabha, concluded with the vote of thanks.
More than 250 Senior Citizens attended the camp and applied for the Senior Citizens Card. The camp was well organized with the cooperation and assistance from the members of Udupi Senior Citizens Association (R), and Catholic Sabha Shankerpura.
The entire program was compeered by Smt. Anitha Richard D’ Souza, Past President of Catholic Sabha, Shankerpura.
