“Grandparents are a treasure which the younger generation should not be denied”, says Pope Benedict XVI. St John the Evangelist Church ,Pangla celebrated the Senior Citizen’s Day on the 6th of December 2015. The Society of St Vincent De Paul (SVP) organized this entire programme under the leadership of Mr. Francis D’sa. The day began with the confessions held for the aged at 10:30 am and the Eucharistic Celebration in anticipation of Christmas thereafter. The Parish Priest, Rev Fr Leslie D’Souza celebrated the Mass. Then there was a gathering in the Community Hall. The Choir group initiated the programme by singing the Carols. Then Mr Francis D’sa the President of SVP welcomed the gathering. Fr Leslie gave a short message. Deacon Joswin D’Souza & Bro Jencil Alva conducted some games and made them joyous. The Vice President of the Parish Council, Mr Mark Vaz and Fr Vincent Coelho Mrs Leena Mendonca were present. Mrs Simmy D’Souza compered the entire programme. Nearly 100 elderly people were present and the programme ended with the lunch.
