Confraternity Sunday was celebrated with much devotion in St John the Evangelist Church; Pangla at 5.00 pm. Fr Vincent Coelho was the main celebrant. After the mass a procession was held from the church to Salmara honoring the Eucharistic Lord. A public adoration was held at Salmara. Fr David D’Souza, from Chikmagalur diocese preached the word of God in Kannada to all the people gathered. He said ‘Jesus has called us to become the light of the world. Quoting National poet Kuvempu he said, we are called to become ‘VIshwa manavaâ€, by giving our light to others to all without any caste, cree and religion. He referred to Pope Francis’ new year of mercy and invited us to show mercy to oters, which alone pleases God. He quoted Basavanna saying ‘dayeye dharmada moolavayya’. After the procession a solemn Eucharistic blessing was given to the faithful.
